RRE Before & After School Program 2018-2019 Guidelines

Thank you for your interest in the River Ridge Elementary Before and After School Program.  This program is offered to RRE students as a service and is staffed with qualified, caring approved workers.  We will make every effort to ensure that your child has a safe, educational and healthy experience while in the program.  Please read the following information to help answer your questions/concerns.

Hours and Days of Operation

The Before School Program opens at 7:00am each morning the school is in regular session in accordance with the County School Calendar.  Students are dismissed from the program at 8:10am to go to their regular classes.  Note that the Before School program does not provide snacks or breakfast.  The school cafeteria program is available at 8:10am.

The After School Program begins at 3:45pm and ends at 6:00pm. A late pick-up fee of $1 per minute will be charged for every minute beyond 6:00pm. We are closed during scheduled school holidays, Teacher Work Days or when the school is closed due to weather. However, on two county assigned Early Release Days students will not be provided care until 6:00pm. Those dates are 12/21/18 and 5/24/19. The Program features:  an academic homework time with assistance, a light snack, recreation, and computer lab time.

The program cannot be used as a drop-in service (per Columbia County policy).  Students who are late pick-ups (after 4:00pm) from regular school will be placed in the program at the emergency drop-in fee of $10.00 per child per day.

Online Registration & Payments

There is a required $25.00 registration fee for the program.  The Before School Program fee is $20.00 per child per week. The After School Program is $45.00 per child per week. For Before and After School the cost is $65.00 per child per week.  These fees are to hold your place whether your child attends one or more days or not for each week of the program unless a one week prior waiver has been approved by the Director.  We will continue to charge weeks missed until we have a written letter of withdrawal.

Registration and payments can be made online at https://ccboe.revtrak.net .

All payments are due on Monday.  A payment that is not made by the close of business on Monday will automatically be assessed a $10.00 late fee per child each week until the account is paid in full.

Any accounts that are two weeks past due will result in the child being withdrawn from the program until full payments are made. There is a $25.00 fee for all returned checks.  Multiple occurrences of late payments may result in withdrawal from the program.

Full payments are required for every week during the school year.  The school calendar works out for even payments due to breaks or holiday. Exceptions are Thanksgiving break, Christmas break, and Spring break. A courtesy payment summary of your account will be given during the last week of January for the prior year tax filing information.  If you need a monthly total for third party reimbursement purposes, please notify the Director in writing at least a week in advance.

Withdrawal from the Program

If a student is going to be withdrawing from the program please notify the Director in writing or by email at least one week prior to the date of withdrawal.

Pick-up Procedures & Late Pick-ups

Students must be signed out daily by an adult listed on the student’s enrollment form. We will not allow students to leave with anyone not listed without written notice from the parent. Students must be picked up by 6:00 PM or a late charge of $1.00 per minute after 6:00 PM will be charged. Upon the 5th late pick up after 6:00, students will be removed from the program for the remainder of the year.

Emergencies

If we have an emergency involving your child, we will follow normal emergency procedures.  If your child is injured seriously, we will apply basic first aid, call 911 and contact you.  Be sure to keep us updated with changes in phone numbers, emergency contacts, and any other important information. If you need to reach us between 4:00-6:00pm please call our school number at 706-447-1016 ext.  2106.

* All kindergarten students need to keep a change of clothes at school in their book bag.

Homework

Students will be given time to work on homework (except Fridays), but may not finish in the time allowed. The After School staff will provide assistance as needed, but Parents/Guardians should check to see if all student homework has been completed at home. Students should bring all books, paper, pencils, and other necessary supplies to complete homework each day as these are not provided.  Children are not permitted to leave the After School Program and return to their classrooms to retrieve forgotten materials.

Discipline

The same rules set forth in the Columbia County Board of Education Elementary School Code of Student Conduct and the River Ridge Elementary Parent-Student Handbook will be enforced. (Please note that students may not bring toys or electronic games to the Before/After school Program).  We will also follow the Positive Behavior Intervention System county program as well.  Disruptive and/or inappropriate behavior at any time may result in the student being withdrawn from the program at the discretion of the Principal or Director. Students receiving three red slips for behavior will result in withdrawal from the program. Refunds will not be given in the event of a student’s dismissal from the program.  If a student is dismissed from either the regular or summer school program they will not be allowed to re-enroll.

Medication

Medication will not be dispensed during the program unless medically necessary (Inhalers, Epi-Pens). If a student is sun sensitive they will need to wear appropriate long clothing/hat, provide extended sun lotion, or request that the student stay inside with a staff worker.

If you have other questions, please email the director, Mrs. Erin Hooker, at [email protected] .
